The WordPress integration connects Semly's visibility analysis with content creation and publishing. Instead of copying articles between Semly and WordPress, you can create, update, and publish content directly from Semly.
publish Semly-generated articles directly to WordPress
save content as a draft or publish it immediately
update previously linked articles
retrieve article content through the API connection and use it in analysis
connect AI visibility data with content creation
automate publishing through AI Agent Leon when the required permissions are enabled
publish and update content from ChatGPT, Claude, and other tools connected through Semly MCP
reduce manual copying of content, titles, slugs, and meta descriptions
Semly supports two connection methods: the official Semly plugin or a direct WordPress REST API connection using an Application Password.
This is the recommended method for most users. It does not require your WordPress password or an Application Password. Pairing is performed using a short-lived token generated in Semly.
In Semly, open Integrations -> WordPress - plugin.
Generate a pairing token for the selected brand and use it shortly after generation.
Open the Semly plugin page on WordPress.org: https://wordpress.org/plugins/semly-ai-visibility-geo/.
Download the plugin ZIP directly from WordPress.org.
In WordPress, go to Plugins -> Add New -> Upload Plugin.
Select the downloaded ZIP file, install the plugin, and activate it.
Open Settings -> Semly - AI Visibility & GEO.
Paste the token generated earlier in Semly and click Connect.
Return to Semly and start publishing or updating articles.
Download the official Semly plugin from WordPress.org
Semly can send a new article as a draft or publish it directly
articles created by Semly can be updated later
linked posts keep their WordPress Post ID when updated
an existing WordPress post can be linked after explicit WordPress administrator approval
the plugin does not automatically import the complete library of existing WordPress posts
disconnecting the integration does not delete previously published posts
If you do not want to install the plugin, connect Semly directly to the WordPress REST API. This method uses your WordPress username and a dedicated Application Password.
Sign in to WordPress.
Go to Users -> Profile.
Find the Application Passwords section.
Enter a name such as Semly.
Create a new Application Password.
Copy the generated password. WordPress only shows it at creation time.
In Semly, open Integrations and choose WordPress API.
Enter the full HTTPS website URL.
If WordPress runs in a subdirectory, include the subdirectory in the URL.
Enter the same WordPress username you normally use to sign in.
Paste the Application Password generated under Users -> Profile.
Click Check and save.
Semly verifies the connection and user permissions.
If you use hosted WordPress Cloud, Application Password availability can depend on the account configuration. In Semly, we require at least one active plugin to be installed before configuring this API connection.
read available WordPress article content through the REST API
publish new posts
update linked articles
send the article title, slug, and body
use WordPress as a publishing target for Semly-generated content
support publishing automation through Leon and MCP
After WordPress is connected, AI Agent Leon can be used to automate more of the content workflow. Based on visibility data and recommendations, Leon can prepare content and, when the account configuration and permissions allow it, send the article to WordPress for publishing.
The WordPress connection can also be used from tools connected to Semly through MCP, including ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, and other compatible AI assistants.
Semly plugin - choose it for the simplest setup, no Application Password, and secure publishing and updating of linked content.
WordPress API - choose it when you want to connect Semly without installing the plugin and need direct REST API access, including reading post content.
use HTTPS
never enter your normal WordPress password into the integration
use an Application Password for the API method
Application Passwords can be revoked at any time
the plugin connection can be disconnected in WordPress and Semly
grant only the permissions required for publishing
The WordPress integration closes the loop between analysis and action. Semly, Google Search Console, Bing, and AI-answer data can lead directly to recommendations, content generation, and publishing, so the process does not end with a report.
